Nayaab means rare in Urdu. The restaurant is aptly named. In Nayaab you can taste all of India. Over the years we have been investigating and introducing more and more authentic dishes from all areas of the subcontinent.
A modern Indian restaurant respects its traditional cuisine yet continually stretches its boundaries. Our menu is balanced between the need to maintain genuine all time favourites and the necessity to explore new styles of regional Indian food. We cater for both diehards and discoverers. We welcome lovers of Chicken Madras and those who relish Monkfish Methi. We are proud to present the best of both worlds. Enjoy!
Owner Praveen Rai first opened Nayaab in Park Walk, Chelsea in 1981. Those were the days when fine Indian cuisine was beginning to make its mark, when bought-in sauces were being replaced by proper spicing and finer natural produce.
Nayaab, like a few other establishments, led the way. The restaurant moved into trendy Fulham in the mid-80s and many loyal customers were happy to make the long journey down the New Kings Road rather than miss their fix. Locals were properly wowed, too, and our reputation has grown throughout the area.
Praveen keeps Nayaab’s menu exciting and enticing by making regular trips back home to Delhi to seek out new developments in Indian cooking and the new dishes which result from it. His chefs relish the results – and you will too!
